Lynette finished Matric at Grabouw High School and studied at the University of Stellenbosch. She obtained a BA, HED and BA Honns in Afrikaans and Nederlands. Thereafter she taught at Bellville High School and also traveled for the ASCV to different schools in the Western Cape area. During these years she organized and held many training and other youth camps, counseled many school children and trained youth leaders.

After her marriage to Chris van Wyk, she taught at three different primary schools in Stellenbosch. The couple moved to Port Elizabeth in 1986 and their three children were born here. When her youngest son was two years old, she was approached to start a Toddlers Workshop in the Summerstrand area. She finished her Diploma in Family and Child Development and started her first workshops in April 1992. During this time she also taught part time at Pearson High School and Vista University.

Lynette is involved in ongoing training. She was fortunate enough to do the Babygym course with Melodie de Jager and also recently finished a parenting course through Evergreen Parenting. Lynette also did the Monsters to Munchkins training with Andalene Salvesen, co-presenter of the Evergreen Parenting course and South Africa’s own Super Granny. To all of these she will soon add a certificate in Play Therapy.

She is now running toddler and baby groups for 17 years and is still passionate about it. Apart from her workshops – she does 13 per week from Monday morning 09:00 until Saturdays 13:00, both Afrikaans and English – she also enjoys theatre, creative writing and has translated educational books and articles. She is often asked to talk about family, marriage and child related issues and enjoys doing that. All three her children are currently studying.
